The Coulter is built from Stone Rambler leather out of C.F. Stead — a stony, weathered face with nap character that smooth hides cannot offer — and it belongs to the most serious construction tier in the range, handcrafted by the most senior artisans on the bench. The build is double stitched stitchdown, the upper flared out and sewn down for strength you can see from the outside. Vibram V100 rubber lug outsoles grip like the trail gear they are, under a 22mm stacked leather woodsman heel. The insoles are Vachetta leather and form to your feet with wear, while the shank, heel counter and toe box are all reinforced with leather. The box carries three sets of laces — a Kevlar blend, an extended-length Kevlar set for wrapping around the boot, and leather laces you can cut to length. This is the expedition piece of the line-up. Dress accordingly, or do not dress it at all.
