Flint is grey with warmth held under the surface, and in suede it turns almost soft-focus — the Dillon wears it over genuine crepe outsoles with a hand-stitched moccasin toe up front, a combination with no hard edges anywhere. Each toe seam is stitched by hand. The stitchout construction sews the upper outward to the crepe, keeping the boot light, flexible and quietly traditional. The tongue is fully gusseted, sewn in along both sides, and the interior is lined end to end in supple glove leather. Comfortable shock-absorbing insoles handle the pavement, and flat waxed cotton laces close the front. Grey suede on crepe is the connoisseur's casual: rarer than sand, easier than black, right with almost everything. It reads best against white, indigo and charcoal, and it will quietly become the most-reached-for shoe on the rack.
