The Ember is a chelsea cut from a single piece of leather — a wholecut upper in Stone Rambler from C.F. Stead — and handcrafted by the most senior artisans, which is exactly the pairing that leather deserves. A wholecut has almost no seams to fail or interrupt the surface, so the stony, weathered character of the Stead hide runs unbroken from toe to collar. The construction is a 270-degree Goodyear welt over Knight anti-slip durable rubber outsoles. Vachetta leather insoles form to your feet with wear, and the shank, heel counter and toe box all carry leather reinforcement. Flexible elastic goring handles entry, helped by dual leather pull tabs, and the interior is fully lined in supple glove leather. This is the collector's chelsea that still earns daily wear.
