French Roast is Horween Chromexcel in its darkest register — coffee taken to the edge of black, with the tannery's signature pull-up glow underneath — and the Gresham gives it a frame built entirely around letting it age. Chromexcel is hot-stuffed with waxes and oils at the Horween Tannery, which is why it moves and deepens the way painted leathers cannot. Goodyear welt construction stitches the upper to durable studded rubber outsoles for a lifetime of resoles. The interior is fully lined in supple Horween glove leather, with Poron antimicrobial shock-absorbing insoles and cork-bed midsoles that form to your feet. Long-lasting leather laces, handcrafted in the USA — the checklist is complete. Darkest brown does what black does with twice the depth.
